Enable Systems Evolution
Enable Systems is an eProcurement and technology provider that
offers a complete hosted solution for
supporting and automating processes, reducing buyer spending, generating additional revenue and enhancing your
customer and supplier relationships.
Enable Systems evolved from Hartford Computer Group, Inc., a
25-year established and successful reseller of IT equipment and services. Founded in
1978, Hartford entered the Information Systems market as a leasing company. Since the market was new and in high demand, mainframe
leasing shortly became our specialty. In conjunction with this business, Hartford
grew into a mainframe service provider and, following equipment lifecycles, a vendor of
disposal and refurbishment services. By the mid 1980s, Hartford Computer
Groups lease volume exceeded a billion dollar portfolio. However, the
technology winds began to shift and eventually the mainframe market started to give way to
personal computers.
Once
again identifying the changing needs of our customers, Hartford led the way in business
trendsetter by transforming our business model into a leading personal computer reseller
by the early 1990s. During the 1990s, we gained our in-depth expertise in buying and
selling large volumes of goodsboth IT and indirect products, such as maintenance and
janitorial supplies. Our processes and tools surrounding this massive exchange of
commodities moved specialized areas of our business in two other directions: volume
management and configuration at our distribution facility and procurement process
automation in-house and eventually on-line.
During
the later part of the 1990s, we again found customer requests driving our business
focus and, therefore, we developed our Professional Services line of business. Our
highly skilled Engineers and experienced Technicians began providing expert outsourcing
and consulting services for our customers.
In
1999, recognized its evolution into a multi-dimensional IT reseller, eCommerce business,
and professional services company. In response, we formed its main lines of business
into three separate business units: Hartford Technical Services, Surplus Village and
Enable Systems.
Today, all three organizations are profitable and thriving in
their complementary segments of the Information Technology marketplace.
